ANTICIPATE //

This time of year brings anticipation for many. Some are excited for a new school year. Some are excited for fall and all it’s autumn-y goodness (me, it’s me). Some can’t wait for the end-of-year festive spirit.

Personally, as I try to focus on one day at a time, I get excited for the end of the school day when I can go see my baby boy’s sunshine smile.

However, I’ve noticed that some things we anticipate can lead to disappointment. We hype something up so much in our mind that when it gets here, it’s not living up to the hype. Or, some outside circumstance comes on a day that we’re expecting something great to take place and it gets cancelled. So many earthly excitements can lead to disappointment.

The only thing in my entire life that has been constant has been Jesus, and the love and joy he has placed there. He has been my overwhelming comfort in times of need. He has been my joy in times of disappointment when I don’t get something that I’ve been anticipating. He’s it.

And it takes constant reminding to keep my hope in him, because it’s super easy to get off track. My sinful nature is to turn to the things of the world, when I know that the best thing is to keep my hope in him. My goal for this new season is to remain steadfast and only anticipate the joy of the Lord.

“But I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.”

‭‭Micah‬ ‭7:7‬
